Teachers should meet up with their students to create behavior contracts together so that the classroom can be a safe and healthy environment for everybody. In the behavior contract I have below, teachers and students will list rules and will figure out reasonable punishments if the student were to break the rule and reasonable privileges if the student were to continue to obey the rules. The teacher, student, and parents will sign the behavior contract. This action must be done by every student so the teacher knows what to expect from students and how the can appropriately punish their students when a certain negative behavior is being demonstrated. It is imperative for teachers to discipline as well as reward students for behavior, but also it is important for the teachers to see if the behavior contract is necessary by receiving permission from the parents of the students to go through with the behavior contract and maybe hold parent-teacher conferences to discuss the behavior contract.
