"Parents who know their children's |
A distant parent can negatively effect a child's motivation to learn, which can result in negative impacts in a child's education. While Bill Clinton was in office, he said this statement on the left while discussing education of America. Although a lot of weight may be put on students to be successful in the classroom so that they can successful for the rest of their lives, it is the parents responsibility to be involved in their child's education. If parents are just as motivated to learn as the students are, it can have a positive impact on generations to come. So many aspects go into family participation, but Bill Clinton summed this impact up very briefly, but it pretty much defines "family participation." Parents know their children's teachers so they can be caught up in what their children are learning. Parents know the homework of their children so they can possibly assist them in what they are learning. Parents know what right from wrong is and teach their children good behavior so they can be successful in the classroom. Children look up to their parents, so if their parents have a negative attitude towards education, so will they, so it is very important for teachers to find ways to get parents involved.
