I actually learned this activity as a peer mentor for the D.R.I.V.E Program here at Keuka College. The D.R.I.V.E Program basically includes students with special needs in college classes as well as put them in their own excluded classes in which they learn skills they will need to live independently such as Social Skills, Community Mobility, and Money Management. This activity is called "Toss 'n Talk" in which many different questions are written on the ball. The students toss the ball around and whatever question the right thumb is on, the students must answer. I find this activity very fun, and some of the questions are silly and get the students laughing. It is important for students to become acquainted with each other even if it is something as silly as this activity. Being acquainted means being comfortable with one another and it promotes a healthy and safe classroom environment and relieves tensions students may have with each other or even what teacher's may have with students. With that being said, being acquainted can also promote social interactions between students, and according to Lev Vygostky's theory, Social Development in which students interact precedes cognitive development according to age.
